Queensland approves funding for sea walls, but at what cost?

The Queensland government has approved funding for sea walls to protect Torres Strait island communities from inundation by king tides.

The federal government says Queensland is robbing Torres Strait islanders of vital funds for sewage and fresh water projects to build sea walls.

Building resilience to climate change impacts on Warraber, Torres Strait

This report documents the likely direct and indirect impacts of climate change on Warraber. It uses local knowledge from discussions with elders, community members and Council staff as well as from documented information about climate impacts in the region. The report aims to summarise Islander-identified priorities for activities to build resilience to these impacts in the immediate and medium term (2011-2050).
